Apparently al Qaeda are now using mentally handicapped children as distractions for suicide bombers, and possibly as suicide bombers.

They short article mentioned that the children are often -supposedly- treated better than they are at home, where they are often subject to daily beatings. Apparently blowing yourself into tiny pieces is a reward for being subjected to daily beatings by your father. The al Qaeda now are seen as heroes and not villians. Great.

Of course, the article called the children retarded. Personally, I don't find the term offensive, but many do and probably they shouldn't have phrased it that way.
